There is also a rich variety of bird-life. Kookaburras, Cockatoos, Crimson Rosellas, King Parrots, Galahs and Wedge Tailed Eagles. Many are not afraid to come close and they are interested in sharing your lunch with you.
Among other interesting local birds there are lots of Kookaburras around Blue Hills Farm Retreat.
You can find various types of cockatoo species in the Blue Mountains. The most commonly recognisable one is the Sulphur-crested Cockatoo. The large, white cockatoo has a bright yellow crest and very cool mow hawk. It counts as one of the largest cockatoos in the world.
Parrots, Lorikeets and Rosellas
Parrots and Lorikeets are often admired for their beautifully coloured feathers. They are often less shy than other birds and allow humans to come quite close to them.
